Le Garage Restaurant is so-called in recognition of the original use of this building. Constructed by the Rines brothers in the early part of the 20th century, the central structure was used for automotive and engine repair as well as blacksmithing.
Le Garage was founded by Charlotte and Crosby Hodgman in the summer of 1974. They opened the restaurant as an ice cream parlor, sandwich and chowder house. Over the next few years they expanded their menu to include crepes and quiche establishing a repuation for innovation quality, simplicity and fair value.
In 1977, their daughter bought the business and recruited a talented and committed staff which undertook to uphold the Hodgman's standards while gradually developing the restaurant into its full service capacity of today. We are open year round except for the month of January. |
